Rest in the middle of the Chicaque forest

The small Casa Balú is located in the heart of Chicaque Natural Park, surrounded by lush nature and stunning landscapes, yet offers the comforts of a suburban home. Partially built in the late 1940s, when materials had to be transported to the site on horseback, it has been gradually renovated. In 2023, it was separated from its sister property, the larger red house. Although the location makes guests feel as if they are in a remote forest hundreds of kilometers from any town or city, Bogotá is only 33 kilometers away. There are two separate bedrooms (one with a double bed and a sofa) and a wooden loft (which can accommodate up to four extra beds), as well as a full bathroom with a hot shower and a small open kitchen with a breakfast bar, gas stove/oven, and refrigerator. The dining room has a table for six, in addition to a side table and a sofa in the living room. The house has satellite internet. The garden is shared and spacious, featuring an organic vegetable garden, a table with an umbrella and chairs, hammocks, a trampoline, a playground, and a playhouse for children. There is also a small basketball court and badminton equipment.
Guests have access to all the park's trails. El Refugio's restaurant is a 10-15 minute walk away; Arboloco restaurant and the parking area are approximately a 1.5-hour hike uphill.
