Rest in the middle of the Chicaque forest

Casa Balú is unique: although located in the heart of Chicaque Natural Park, surrounded by lush nature and stunning landscapes, it offers the comforts of a suburban home. Built in the late 1940s, when building materials had to be transported on horseback, it has been gradually remodeled over the decades. The outhouse has been replaced with a toilet and a bathroom with hot water, connected to the electrical grid, replaced the fireplace with an efficient wood-burning stove, and enlarged to let in plenty of sunlight. Furthermore, the bridle path that was once the only way to reach the house is now a small road accessible to 4x4 vehicles. While the location makes guests feel as if they are in a remote forest hundreds of kilometers from any town or city, Bogotá is only 33 kilometers away. There are three separate bedrooms, one with an ensuite bathroom, and each with a double bed. Extra single beds can be added if needed. Both bathrooms and the laundry room have hot water. The dining room features a large round table. The living room is comfortable, with two sofas, a television (and DVD player), and a wood-burning stove for when the rainy season arrives with its fog and cool weather. The kitchen is fully equipped and functional, with a large gas stove, electric oven, and microwave. Satellite internet is available. The shared and spacious garden features an organic vegetable garden, a table with an umbrella and chairs, hammocks, a trampoline, a playground, and a playhouse for children. There is also a small basketball court and badminton equipment.

Guests have access to all the park's trails. El Refugio restaurant is a 10-15 minute walk away; Arboloco restaurant and the parking area are approximately a 1.5-hour walk uphill.
