  • What's the weather like in Chicaque?

The weather in the Park is similar to Bogota's: rainy months are March, April, and October. Sunny months are January and August. The rest of the year, days are usually clear in the mornings up until around 9 am, the fog usually arrives after this hour and clears up at around 3:30 pm.

  • Is the Park closed on holidays?

No, the Park opens every day of the year.

  • Are there group discounts?

Yes, we offer discounts on Park entrance fee for large groups. For more information please contact us.

  • Does Chicaque offer transportation to the park?

Yes, we offer transportation from/to Transmilenio's "Portal del Sur" station. For more information please click here. We can also offer transportation from/to your hotel or from/to the airport, please contact us for more information.

  • Is there parking available? ¿How much does it cost?

Yes, we offer free parking to our visitors.

  • May I enter the Park on bike?

No, you may leave the bike at the parking lot, but bikes are not allowed in the Park.

  • I have a 4x4 vehicle, may I enter the Park in it?

No, the internal road may only be used by Park vehicles. All other vehicles must be left in the parking lot.

  • May I hire one of the Park's vehicles to take me to El Refugio or back to the Park entrance?

Yes, this service is available. You may request it at the Park entrance, Refugio, or ahead of time by contacting our Bogotá office. For more information please click here.

  • Do I need to hire a guide to get around the Park?

No, as long as you stay on the trails, you'll have no problem getting around the Park. A guide is only necessary, and required, for groups of 20 or more people. If you do wish to hire a guide, please contact us.

  • I'll be traveling to the Park with small children. What trails do you recommend?

The least demanding trails are: the road down to El Refugio, and the Oak Forest. Please be advised that all trails do require physical effort and at some point, small children will very likely have to be carried. You may hire the 4x4 service, or horseback riding service for the road from El Refugio to the Park entrance.

  • Are pets allowed in the Park?

No, pets are not allowed in the Park.

  • I wish to spend the night at the Park. Do I need to make reservations beforehand?

We offer several lodging and camping options. We strongly recommend you do make reservations ahead of time, as availability is limited. To make reservations please contact us.

  • Do you rent camping gear?

Yes, this service is available for the Refugio camp site. Queantities are limited so please be sure to make reservations ahead of time. Please contact us to do so.

  • At what time may I arrive at the Park?

The Park is open from 8 am to 4 pm, for people who are visiting for the day. For people spending the night at the park, entrance is allowed until 5 pm on week days, and 6:30 pm on weekends. Please be sure to take a flashlight if you are going to enter after 5 pm.

The Park is quite large, so if you're going just for the day, we recommend you get there early in the morning.

  • What should I take to spend the day at the Park?

Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothes. Avoid wearing jeans, if they get wet they'll stick to you and make it harder to walk. Wear layers of clothes, that allow you to be cooler, or warmer; the weather may vary greatly on one day. Use comfortable shoes that protect your ankles and have soles with good grip. Take a light raincoat or poncho or waterproof jacket. Take a canteen for water, cap or hat, sunblock, and a flashlight. Wear a small, light backpack where you can carry your things, so that your hands are free when walking.

  • May I drink the water from the creeks?

Yes, the creeks are pure water spings that are born in the Park.

  • May I cook in the Park?

Cooking is allowed only to those camping in the Portería camp site.

You may bring food into the Park. Please be sure not to leave any trash on the floor.

  • Is food sold in the Park?

Yes, there are two restaurants in the Park, Arboloco (located by the parking lot), and El Refugio. You'll also find a small store where you can purchase snacks and beverages, located at the park entrance.

  • May I bring alcoholic beverages into the Park?

No, alcoholic beverages are not allowed in the Park.

  • What other things are not allowed in the Park?

The following items are not allowed in the Park:

Pets
Boomboxes, radios, or music players with speakers
Glass containers
Weapons
Knives
Matches
Lighters
Cigarrettes
Alcoholic beverages

Visitors may be inspected upon arrival. If any of the previous articles are found, they will be kept at the Park entrace, and returned upon exit from the Park.

  • May I host a social or business event at the Park?

Absolutely, please contact us for more information.

  • Are there any restrictions for the Canopy or Zipline activities?

Yes. Please abstain from participating in these activities if you are pregnant or have a heart condition. Participants have to be fitted with a special harness, child sizes available. Participants must fit securely into the harness. Small children must ride with a parent or older child.

Maximum weight permitted at the Zipline activity is 110 Kgs (240lbs).

Minors must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult, or have a signed permit from parent or responsible adult.
